Experiment: Charge It!

Materials:
Static Tester
12 by 12-inch piece of clear plastic wrap
piece of silk fabric
"test" objects (wooden Popsicle stick, plastic straw, plastic comb, metal spoon, metal scissors, glass eyedropper, glass light bulb)

Step 1 - Rub the wooden Popsicle stick with the plastic wrap for about 30 seconds.
Step 2 - Bring the Popsicle stick near on end of the folded card on your static tester. Don't the stick touch the card. What happens Static Tester?
Step 3 - Record your results on the chart be Use"strong", "weak" or "none" to describe the Static Tester's Motion.
Step 4 - Repeat steps 1 to 3 with each of the other test objects.
Step 5 - Repeat 1 to 4 but this time with each object with the silk fabric.
